I Due Ricu
Langhe Doc Rosso
Dedicated to the two “Ricu” (nickname for Enrico) of the family – the uncle and brother of Marziano – this wine is a testimony to the happy blend of two classic varieties of the area: nebbiolo and barbera, with pinot Nero. An important and rare wine, just a few thousand bottles are produced every year.
Variety:
Pinot nero, Nebbiolo, Barbera
First year of production:
2000
Winemaking:
Crushing-destemming followed by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts, in contact with its skins in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Dry racking and transfer to oak barrels of 500 liters. Each grape variety is vinified separately.
Malolactic fermentation:
Carried out entirely in barrels immediately after alcoholic fermentation.
Aging:
In individual barrels for a long time, each variety separately aged. Assemblage in stainless steel, then bottling. Rests in the bottle at a constant temperature of 14° C (57° F) for some months before release.
Tasting notes:
With an intense ruby red color, on the nose it reveals aromas of prune and chocolate. In the mouth it is ample and has a good body, with fresh acidity and a long, persistent finish. Pairs with important dishes, aged cheeses, and game. Serve at 18-19° C (64-66° F).
